What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your phone, tablet or computer when you visit. They let the site remember things — like the fact that you’re signed in — between pages or visits.
Similar technologies work in much the same way, such as local storage in your browser, pixels and software development kits (SDKs) in apps. In this policy we call them all “cookies”.
The law that covers cookies in the UK is the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), alongside UK data protection law. It says we can only use cookies that aren’t strictly necessary if you agree to them.
How we use cookies
At present, our website doesn’t set any analytics, advertising or marketing cookies. We don’t use tracking pixels, and we don’t let advertisers or social networks put cookies on our site.
We may use a small amount of strictly necessary storage, for example:
- to keep the site secure and protect it from bots and attacks (our hosting provider may do this)
- to keep a connection open to our database so forms can be sent and confirmed
- once accounts launch, to keep you signed in securely
Our fonts are served from our own website, so loading a page doesn’t send your details to a font provider.
When you send us a form (like the waitlist or contact form), the information you type is stored in our database, not in a cookie. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.
Cookie categories
This table shows each type of cookie and whether we use it right now.
| Category | What it does | Status | Needs your consent? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep the site secure and working — for example, protecting it from attacks, balancing traffic and remembering what you’ve typed into a form as you move through it. | Used only where needed | No — the law allows these without consent |
| Preferences | Remember choices you make, such as settings or things you’ve dismissed, so you don’t have to set them again. | Not used at present | Yes — we’ll ask before using any |
| Analytics | Help us understand how people use the site (for example, which pages are visited most) so we can improve it. | Not used at present | Yes — we’ll ask before using any |
| Marketing | Track you across websites to show you adverts or measure ad campaigns. | Not used at present | Yes — we’ll ask before using any |
If we ever want to use preference, analytics or marketing cookies, we’ll show you a clear choice before any are set, with “Accept” and “Reject” given equal weight. Saying no won’t stop you using the site, and you’ll be able to change your mind at any time. We’ll also update this page with the name, purpose and lifespan of each cookie.
Our mobile app
When our iOS and Android app launches, it may use similar technologies (such as secure storage on your device to keep you signed in, and notifications you’ve agreed to). The same rules apply: we’ll only use non-essential tracking if you’ve said yes, including through your phone’s own privacy settings. See our End User Licence Agreement and Privacy Policy.
How to control cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Each browser does this slightly differently — look for “Privacy” or “Cookies” in the settings, or see the help pages for Chrome (opens in a new tab), Safari (opens in a new tab), Firefox (opens in a new tab) and Edge (opens in a new tab).
If you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the site (like forms or signing in) may not work properly.
For general information about cookies and your choices, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has a helpful guide at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab).
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy whenever we change how we use cookies — and, for anything non-essential, before we start using it. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
